Mousa Mohammadian
Mousa Mohammadian is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the American University of Beirut. He specializes in general philosophy of science (and HOPOS), metaphysics, and Islamic philosophy. Mousa received his Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science (Philosophy of Science Track) from the University of Notre Dame under the supervision of Anjan Chakravartty. He has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Reilly Center for Science, Technology, and Values and an IVC Fellow at the Institute Vienna Circle, University of Vienna.
In Pittsburgh, Mousa will work on the interactions between early logical empiricism in the United States and Peirce’s philosophy, especially his philosophy of science. His project has two aims: (i) to better understand the marginalization of Peirce from the mainstream philosophy of science and (ii) to bring to the foreground some of Peirce’s valuable insights that were missed by the mainstream philosophy of science due to this marginalization.
