Brian McLoone
Brian is mainly interested in evolutionary theory, scientific modeling, confirmation, counterfactual reasoning, and modal logic, and especially the places where these topics overlap. At the Center, Brian will work on a project about what kind of logic is needed to formally represent the sort of reasoning scientists engage in when they’re reasoning counterfactually about a model system. Brian was born and raised in Arizona, received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from University of Wisconsin–Madison, and is currently an assistant professor at the Higher School of Economics, in Moscow. When not working, he enjoys reading history and fiction, and traveling.
